IMPORTANT DATES FOR VOTERS IN ERIE COUNTY, NY

  • 10/9 – Last day to register to vote
  • 10/14 – Last day for change of address to be received
  • 10/24 – Early voting period begins
  • 10/27 – Last day to postmark absentee ballot application
  • 11/1 – Early voting period ends
  • 11/2 – Last day to apply for general election ballot
  • 11/3 – Last day to postmark general election ballot (must be received by Erie County BOE no later than 11/10); last day to deliver general election ballot in person to county board (by close of polls) on election day.

What to do with your voted absentee ballot:

  • Mail your voted ballot to the Erie County of Elections, 134 W Eagle St, Buffalo, NY 14202 so it is postmarked no later than November 3, 2020, the day of the election.
  • Alternatively, you can hand deliver your voted ballot to
    • the Erie County Board of Elections office located at 134 W Eagle St, Buffalo, NY 14202 any time during normal business hours on or before November 3, 2020;
    • to any one of the 37 Erie County early voting locations during designated voting hours between October 24, 2020 and November 1, 2020;
    • to any of the 313 polling sites between 6:00 am and 9:00 pm on election day

EARLY VOTING DETAILS

Starting October 24, 2020 all active registered voters in Erie County are eligible to cast an early voting ballot. Registered voters will be able to cast their ballot at any of the thirty-seven (37) designated early voting locations. Erie County’s Election Inspectors will now use Electronic Poll Books and Ballot-on-Demand systems to facilitate early voting.

(Any ballots cast on election day must be cast at the voter’s district polling location designated by the Erie County Board of Elections as noted by the voter registration card mailed to the voter or found here.)

Extended Absentee Ballot Notice

The Erie County Board of Elections at 134 W. Eagle Street will offer the following extended absentee ballot application and voting hours for the Tuesday, Nov. 3, general election:             

  • Thursday, Oct.22 9am -7 pm
  • Saturday, Oct. 24 12 pm – 6 pm
  • Tuesday, Oct. 27 9am – 9 pm
  • Thursday, Oct. 29 9 am – 9 pm
  • Saturday, Oct. 31 12 pm – 6 pm 

 In addition, the Board of Elections  will be open for absentee applications and voting 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. all other weekdays up to and including Monday, Nov. 2, which is the deadline for in-person ballot applications.
