“Western New York Peace Center Executive Director Deidra EmEl said [grassroots organizations distributing food, assessing neighborhood needs] is a way to connect the many different communities east of Main Street as they continue to pick up the pieces from the shooting which left 10 people dead and three more wounded.
‘We are trying to build more bridges so many different communities that are on the East Side,’ she said. ‘Especially the immigrant community of course African American community and we also have some newcomers coming in so we really want to kind of bridge some of those gaps with communication and of community building.'”
