Greetings!
We hope that everyone is doing well, and that Peace, Love and Justice are engaging us all.
The decision by the Senate Judiciary Committee to move Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination forward has tuned everyone into the national conversation regarding the judicial nomination, as well as assault and abuse. As it seems, there may be a one week delay so that the FBI can investigate the claims against Kavanaugh.
Let’s all be there to Support women. Female or male, we are all called in this moment to Stand with women. Listen to women. Respect Women.
Many are wondering how to get involved at this important time, and how to navigate it all. So we wanted to offer some suggestions:
- Your voice is very powerful. You are always welcome to call your senators and let your stance be known about important matters. This weekend, and the coming week, is one where many are choosing to use that power.
- Get involved! There are many groups demonstrating, rallying, protesting, writing post cards, getting out the vote, starting conversations in their communities, etc., etc. Be a part of the change you wish to see.
- VOTE on November 6. And communicate to others that their vote counts, too. Our vote. Our voice.
- SELF-CARE is not just a phrase. It is an extremely important phrase! Everyone is at heightened emotional levels regarding what is happening in our country right now. Take good care of yourself, whatever that means for you. Get involved. Take a moment to breathe. Go to that rally. Take a day to be with family and friends. Have folks over for dinner. Whatever works for you.
The national conversation around sexual violence and abuse has not been easy for many. As someone stated, many survivors of sexual assault are reliving trauma. If you need to talk, you can call 1-800-656-HOPE to reach a national, confidential helpline 24/7. There is also an online hotline at https://hotline.rainn.org/online.
Peace, Love, Justice, Health, Wellness, and Wholeness to us all.
