Rev. John R. Long and Dr. Mary A. Bisson (Peace Center Board Members)

The Western New York Peace Center was founded in 1967 by Buffalonians responding to the call by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr to end the Vietnam War as part of the social justice and racial justice movements.

The WNY Peace Center continues in action: resisting militarism and war around the world, fighting unsustainable environmental policies, promoting economic and racial and prisoner justice, protecting immigrants and refugees, teaching peaceful conflict resolution, and working in solidarity with Latin America.

Thanks for your consideration of the above! Hopefully the WNYPC can keep going another 50 years!

Unfortunately we can’t linger over the wonder of the  WNY Peace Center’s 50th Annual Dinner with Amy Goodman!! The amazing spirit displayed by Amy and all, the wonderful turnout, were truly inspiring! And we continue ….

We are very excited about Celebrating Peace Not War on Armistice Day, this Saturday, November 11, at 11am with Veterans for Peace Ch #128. Come to Cathedral Park by St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral at Main & Church. Church bells will ring 11 times, and our brief ceremony will honor peace not war.

We’re even more excited about KATHY KELLY coming on Tuesday, Nov 14!! Kathy is a wonderfully inspiring peace activist who’s nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize a number of times. If you haven’t heard her speak, you need to; and if you have, you’ll want to!!

Special thanks to WNY Muslims for their giving the Peace Makers Award to WNYPC Executive Director, Vicki Ross! We are all in this together – and grateful to WNY Muslims for their own work, courage, insight, and peacemaking!!

Below are event listings; campaigns; and regularly scheduled events – all in that order. And be sure to go to our calendar at wnypeace.org/calendar for more event listings – they are there and new ones keep right on coming! …..

Celebrate Peace, not war; Nonviolence, not violence; Truth, not lies; and Love, not fear, nor hate.  #loveisloveBUF

Sat, Nov 11. Celebrate Peace instead of War!! 11am at the Homeless Jesus outside St. Paul’s Cathedral, Cathedral Sq at Main & Church Sts, Buffalo.

Sun, Nov 12, 2-4pm. Cariol Horn receives Eye on History Award, Merriweather Library, cnr Jefferson & East Utica. Former police officer Cariol Horne lost her job and pension when she prevented an “Eric Garner”-type situation. She’s a true community activist. Come appreciate her! See also Cariol Horne Whistle-blower Fund below.

Tues, Nov 14, Kathy Kelly will speak!! “Breaking Every Chain: Unshakling Ourselves from Endless Wars.” 7pm Buffalo State College, Bulger Communications Center, Rm South 2, 2nd Floor. Don’t miss hearing Kathy! Her many years in and out of war zones – including Afghanistan, Gaza, and Iraq during Shock and Awe (the first outrageous onslaught) – and working with every fiber of her being to stop the War Machine, make her a powerful and excellent speaker. She tells the stories of the people affected and gives the facts to illuminate the situation.

The Western New York Peace Center has created a fund for the purpose of supporting police officers who face reprisals from their department from choosing to strictly uphold their oath to protect and serve the community.  gofundme.com/cariol-horne-whistleblower-fund. The Peace Center has named this fund after Cariol Horne who saved the life of a citizen, but was fired just prior to earning her 20-year pension.  Our goal is to encourage good police officers in following their moral conscience if and when it conflicts with the infamous blue wall of silence ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_wall_of_silence).
As you know, people desperately need our help because of the devastation caused by “natural” disasters (read fossil-fuel-burning-generated Climate Catastrophe). You can contribute as follows:

(Not tax deductible, IFCO/Irma Relief (same address) Phone: 212-926-5757

And Chiapas is in danger of more quakes.  You can donate, via Paypal, a Los Topos: donativos@brigada-rescate-topos.org

Donations for Puerto Rico – we also recommend: Paypal address:  cdpecpr@gmail.com

The address above is for the Mutual Aid Community Soup Kitchens run by

Giovanni Roberto, friend of MaryAnne Grady Flores (UpstateDroneAction.org and Puerto Rico activist), feeding up to 1,000 meals a day in Cayay.

They have other community sites in other towns like Guaynabo and Caguas.

The Mariafund.org is another fund governed by many grassroots community groups.
Please give generously – the situations continue to be terrible for many!!
