CAMPAIGNS
Follow-up: U.S./Saudi Arms Deal
The Senate vote to stop the arms deal to Saudi Arabia was very close: 47 to 53, with both Senators Gillibrand and Schumer voting to block. While this effort did not yet win the day, it is an indication that next time we will! The Military-Industrial-Congressional-Media-Plus Complex is beginning to crumble.
Never before has the Senate taken as strong a stand to stop the militarism that threatens populations overseas and at home, through violence and the assumption that might is right, and that US-sponsored or permitted violence is not violence.
A monumental 47 Senators voted to protect innocent civilians and Yemeni citizens, and block the $110 Billion Saudi Arms Sale being moved forward by the current administration. The war crimes being perpetrated in Yemen must be stopped. Unfortunately the effort missed the mark by 4 votes.
We applaud sponsor Senators Chris Murphy (D-CT), Rand Paul (R-KY), and Al Franken (D-MN), as well as our own Senators Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and the other 42 who had the courage and vision to vote against this outrageous and huge arms sale to a country that is known for war crimes and state-sponsored violence. We are grateful to the many citizens who called and the national groups such as CodePink, Friends National Service Committee, PeaceAction, Yemeni Peace Project, and more – who organized to pressure US Senators to do the right thing.

Resist Militiarism! Taskforce
Please check out this petition from Roots Action calling for a ban of weaponized drones. Our government is setting up killer drone bases all over the country and all over the world. The 107th Attack Squadron at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station is slated to begin assassinations from there by the end of the year, possibly the end of the summer. It is past time to grow the opposition to these horrors. Ban Weaponized Drones:
