Latin America Solidarity Committee
The Latin American Solidarity Committee wants to thank all those who gathered signatures on postcards to be sent to Governor Cuomo and Senate leader John Flanagan in support of the Farmworker Fair Labor Practices Act.  In one week LASC collected over 300 signed postcards in favor of the New York State labor law. For too many years many people in New York State have worked tirelessly to make this a priority in our state. These postcards were signed by people from parishes, churches, labor unions, community organizations and others concerned about farmworker economic justice throughout New York State. This past Sunday over 50 people attended a press conference at Pilgrim/St. Luke’s UCC organized by Rural and Migrant Ministry, Coalition for Economic Justice and Latin America Solidarity Committee. Speakers included Assemblymen Sean Ryan, as well as representatives for Senator Tim Kennedy, New York Civil Liberties Union, WNY Labor Federation. Our most honored guests were 10 Migrant Farm Workers from NYS.
