Syracuse Peace Council Plowshares Craftsfair

There will be live-streamed entertainment, roundtable discussions with crafters and community members, and opportunities to talk with SPC organizers. Our virtual SPC Table will be “staffed” from 12-4 pm each day – come by anytime to chat with SPC organizers via Zoom! The Zoom link will be available soon on the website here.
Events on Saturday, December 5
11:30 am – Welcome to Plowshares! Learn about Plowshares and the Syracuse Peace Council and hear about the weekend to come.
12:00 pm – Merry Mischief and Friends is an ensemble of talented musicians who are minstrels of fun, with the core member of Merlyn Fuller. See the Entertainment page for a preview.
1:00 pm – Crafting in the Time of Covid. A conversation with six Plowshares craftspeople facilitated by Plowshares committee members (and craftspeople) Karen Kerney and Barbara Floch. The craftspeople: Liz Goldenberg (Pottery); Stacey Pope (Painting); Dan Reeder (Assemblage); Betsy Menson Sio (Jewelry); Joseph Steiner (Woodwork); Chris Amann (Fiber)
2:00 pm – Colleen Kattau is a bilingual vocalist songwriter who stirs listeners with her clear voice, collective spirit and rhythmic sensibility. Her compositions are full of nature, social movements, and Latin American nueva canción. See the Entertainment page for a preview.
3:00 pm – History of Plowshares: Let’s Reminisce. The newest members of the Plowshares Committee will interview the longest time members (some at 30+ years!). Come join in the fun!

11:15 am – Coffee and Tea with SPC. Join a conversation on “What Gives You Hope,” facilitated by SPC Steering Committee members Aly Wane and Caroline Kim Tihanyi. Note: This will not be livestreamed.
12:00 pm – Dan Duggan is one of the finest dulcimer players and composers in the country. Whether re-creating 18th century harp pieces or vibrant 19th century dance tunes, Dan engages audiences nationwide. See the Entertainment page for a preview.

2:00 pm – The Luckiest Men is the acoustic guitar duo of Jim Riter and Ross Loucy. Their work is based on their shared love of American roots music, classic rock, and classic and contemporary folk and country. See the Entertainment page for a preview.
3:00 pm – “How to Be an Ally to Indigenous People” is a presentation given by Andy Mager and Cindy Squillace of Neighbors of the Onondaga Nation (NOON) a committee of the Syracuse Peace Council.
