Western New York Peace Center's
Witnessing Fund

Started in October 2011 with a generous $500 gift from an anonymous WNY Peace Center member, this fund is dedicated to the support of individuals who act in the cause of social justice in a nonviolent manner. This includes actions such as Occupy Buffalo, traveling to other cities to support demonstrations or vigils, as well as support for local actions.

As of January 16, 2012:

Expenditures from the Witnessing Fund

• $2,718 for the porta potties for Occupy Buffalo
  
• $25 to subsidize a bus ticket for a Geneseo State College student to attend Occupy Washington DC
  
• $50 for a Peace Center member who does Occupy Buffalo's laundry at a laundromat (2 months worth of laundry).
• $1,250 for Occupy Buffalo and WNY Peace Center members to attend Witness Against Tortures' Washington DC vigil marking the 10th anniversary of Guantanamo Bay Prison.

Fund Balance: -$1,379 (January 16, 2012)

As of January 16, 2012 the amount needed by February 1, 2012 to continue to fund porta potties for Occupy Buffalo: $2,167

What we are funding now at Occupy Buffalo

As of October 17, 2011 we are funding two porta potties costing $512   $788 per month. On Monday, October 24, we learned servicing twice a week was insufficient. The porta potties are now serviced 3 times each week, hence the change in cost.

This reflects the extraordinary 24/7 efforts of many people to Occupy Buffalo!
